I lost my virginity...

Tattoo virginity, that is! Gotcha! So I've been wanting one for a long time, but I'm pretty fickle and get bored with everything quickly, so I've taken a long time in deciding. I finally decided on a loose plan of a child hugging a farm animal with bright colors. I got a bunch of Tofurkey heart temporary tattoos at Vegfest and put them all over my body until I decided on the right spot (inner left calf). Yes, I know, probably over thinking it... but I'm crazy like that. I went in to Scapegoat, my local all-vegan tattoo shop, and made an appointment to meet with an artist. I chose Sam due to his availability and a beautiful peacock in his portfolio, and when I told him my idea he totally understood what I wanted and came up with a design. I scheduled my appointment for a week later. Unfortunately, my cat scratched the shit out of me that same day - right where the tattoo was supposed to go! So I had to reschedule and let that heal. I finally did it yesterday! I am super happy with the results - Sam is really talented and I almost cried from happiness when I saw it. But I didn't! Almost!

Speaking of kittens, do any of you have any great kitty names up your sleeves? I'm liking Marmalade, hubby's liking Godzilla. Yikes!

Oh my goodness....I am so jealous that you live in vegan-mecca..."my local vegan tatto parlour"!!! Argh.

I too took forever to get my tattoo and have wanted another one ever since. My first tattoo is a line from Romeo and Juliet, which I had put on my lower back in graduate school.

My vote for the cat's name is: Hamlet!! :)

Enjoy your (vegan) ink.

Sweet tat! I really, really like that. Tattoos are a super commitment, so it's great that you took so much time and care in deciding. That one says, "I love and respect animals" without coming across as super militant. I don't think you'll ever regret that.

And I LOVE the pic of the kitty inspecting Sam's work. Too cute!

That is a great tattoo! Is that your inner thigh? I am confused by the pictures...My cat's name is Rupert. People are always taken aback by it but I really like it!

Thanks everybody! I'm really loving it :) And VF - I totally wish my thigh was that svelte(!), but no, it's my inner calf (the grass starts a couple inches above my ankle). And Jess, hmmm, I figured I was too much of a noob to go! Maybe I will come show it off :)

I really like Rupert and Hamlet for kitty names! This is so difficult! I've been liking Rosemary today...

I beat you. I got my first tatoo when I was 41. I did not tell anyone, althought hubby already had 4.

mine is a Trek tatoo, can you guess why? Yeah I an old enough to have watched the Original series and not in reruns. It's a generic Trek tatoo and it was recently sliced into due to back surgery. Boo Hoo.

I love your tatoo, it speaks volumes. Love your blog!
